CKCF Pawsitivity Grants
They don't call them man's best friend for nothing. Humans and dogs have enjoyed a symbiotic relationship for thousands of years. Throughout history, dogs have filled many unique roles and needs for the people they love, becoming one of the most adaptable and diversified species on earth. The CKC Foundation wants to celebrate and enhance the many benefits dogs bring to their owners and to Canadian society with our CKCF Pawsitivity Grants.
To this end, preference will be given to those projects that align most closely to our Mission and Vision statements:
The CKCF's Vision is that:
Canadian dogs will live the longest and healthiest lives possible while enjoying an optimal relationship with humans.
The CKCF's Mission is to:
Improve the canine-human relationship and the health of Canadian dogs by empowering communities to educate their members on responsible dog ownership and enabling canine health research.
What type of projects do CKC Foundation Pawsitivity Grants cover? If your project helps dogs help people or promotes the positive role dogs play in Canadian society, we want to hear about it! Think of something unique! Among others, examples of activities might include education on or promotion of responsible dog ownership, public service dog training, or education on raising healthy and well-adjusted dogs.
Please note that applications to fund personal support/service dogs are not eligible for CKCF grants.
How It Works
Applications for funding are accepted at any time throughout the year and will be awarded until the annual budget for this program has been reached. Each application is assessed by a panel composed of experienced dog owners and breeders who will make recommendations to the CKC Foundation Board of Directors for approval. Please note that because applications for funding are accepted and processed on a first-come-first-serve basis, funds will become increasingly limited over time. Applying early in the year is strongly recommended, even if your project or event won't begin immediately.
Grants for individual projects average $2,500 and are limited to a maximum of $10,000 per project. Grants are awarded on an annual basis and are for a minimum duration of one year. Exceptions may be made for worthwhile projects that need more time for completion. Recipients must provide progress reports and are expected to adhere to timelines outlined in their proposal. Final payment will not be made until the last progress report/report on findings has been received. Additionally, the CKC Foundation reserves the right to publicize awarding of the grant and to share information on project progress made over the course of the funding cycle or after.
Please note that applications to fund personal support/service dogs are not eligible for CKCF grants.
Who Is Eligible To Apply?
Normally, CKC Foundation grant recipients must be an eligible recipient for funds from a registered charity as defined by the Income Tax Act and able to issue official tax receipts for donations received. Most commonly, the eligible recipient is itself a registered charity, however in certain circumstances and on a case-by-case basis, the CKC Foundation may enter into agency agreements with groups that are NOT eligible under The Income Tax Act, by having these groups act as the CKC Foundation's agent in carrying out initiatives on its behalf.
No application will be entertained where animal welfare may be compromised. Funding will be withdrawn at any time should the foundation find that the project is failing to support the goals and objectives of the CKC Foundation.
